A gift for you, and for me: Tory’s romantic and self-loving boudoir session

While many of my clients do a boudoir session just for themselves, I also have clients who schedule a boudoir session with the intention of giving their portraits to someone as a gift. When Tory reached out to me, she initially wanted her portraits to be a gift for her husband. Tory saw her boudoir session as a way to celebrate this special chapter of life with and for her husband.

As Tory moved through her boudoir session, she felt the purpose of the day slowly expand. The photoshoot became about more than just a gift for her spouse: it became a day for her too. It was the first day in a long time that Tory was able to spend extended time with and for herself, and the spaciousness of the day created a powerful opportunity for her to pause, receive care, and enjoy herself.

WARDROBE
When planning the session together, Tory had described wanting her portraits to feel romantic and feminine. She hoped they would evoke a sensual energy, and above all, that they would feel like herself. On her boudoir session day, Tory brought three lingerie sets with varied styles and colors, yet they all captured the soft feeling of romance she envisioned.

IN HER WORDS

Here’s how Tory reflected on her session: “The boudoir photoshoot turned out to be an incredibly empowering experience for me. Although I initially approached it with my husband's preferences in mind (the photographs were a gift for his 40th birthday), the portrait reveal elicited an unexpectedly emotional response in me. I found a newfound sense of confidence, and it left me eager to do another photoshoot that focuses solely on me and my journey.”

TORY’S PORTRAITS

This portrait radiates a sense of joy and serenity. I love how you can feel the warmth Tory exudes, illuminated by the gorgeous natural light of the silhouette panel.

While Tory’s face is concealed in this portrait, it still holds so much personality. Sitting on the bed twirling her hair, this portrait feels almost candid, capturing an energy of romance and ease.

I love the warmth and peacefulness of this portrait.

Here, Tory looks powerful and poised. In black and white, the bold geometric lines on her lingerie contrast beautifully with the richness of the accent wall.
