Gentle and Grounded: An inspiring flower boudoir session

When planning a boudoir session with a client, I always invite clients to reflect on important themes in their life and intentions they want to bring into the session. I am inspired by the vision that unfolds in these conversations and encouraged by how many of my clients want their boudoir session to feel like an exhale, full of self-love and self-embrace.

This client brought beautiful inspiration into our planning conversations. She liked the idea of taking time from this full season of her life to pause, honor, and celebrate her body. She wanted the portraits to capture the strength and softness she sees in herself, and she wanted to feel warm, authentic, gentle, and grounded in her pictures.

OUTFIT INSPIRATION

On the day of her session, this client brought wardrobe pieces with soft, airy colors: pinks and purples that felt soft and romantic, with an undercurrent of strength. In some portraits, she wears a super fun and favorite t-shirt of hers as well, which added a cozy and laid-back vibe to the session.

This client also brought this big, gorgeous bouquet of tulips to incorporate into her portraits. The flowers brought such wonderful energy and a gentle element of nature into the session, very much in line with her vision. I’ve had clients bring sprigs of flowers to their sessions before but I was so inspired by this giant bouquet – it added color and texture into her portraits and really captured the self-love themes that she wanted to embrace in this session.

PORTRAITS

Lately, I have been really drawn to boudoir storyboards like this: intentional little series of portraits that capture a storytelling feeling. This client’s storyboard is bursting with flowers and holds so much warmth, radiance, and reflection.

I love this client’s t-shirt, which she shared makes her feel fierce, strong, and happy. All of those emotions came through beautifully in these portraits, as she brought an inspiring sense of gentleness and power into the session.

So much joy and vibrance flowing out of these portraits!

While this client held the whole tulip bouquet in some portraits, in others she held up a single flower or two. These portraits feel very settled and self-loving.
