A’s powerful, whimsical, and elegant floral boudoir

Working with returning clients is such a rewarding part of my work as a boudoir photographer. It always feels like an honor when folks trust me to document multiple seasons in their life, and I love witnessing the growth and transformation that happens along the way. A is a client I’ve worked with for several years now, and it’s been incredible to see the unique energy and style each of her sessions has inspired. Last year, I photographed A’s outdoor boudoir session at Black Beach, and her portraits turned out bold, epic, and bursting with self-assuredness. This year, A was thrilled about my flower boudoir offering and we decided to do her annual boudoir session at my new studio.

A wanted her boudoir session to balance her love of artful boudoir portraits with her vibrant, creative energy. She envisioned portraits that felt at once strong and poised, playful and serene. She was excited for this session to capture the well of confidence she has come to fill within herself and to celebrate the mosaic of styles she feels drawn to in this season of life. A also felt delighted to incorporate two different flower bouquets into her session. I helped with her wardrobe planning for this session, choosing three looks that complemented the colors and textures of the bouquets. She also opted for professional hair and make up, which felt very self-celebratory.

A’s kind words after the session

When reflecting on her boudoir session, A had such sweet words to share: “It continues to amaze me how each session takes on a life of its own. Alyssa makes each session so unique and tailored to where I am in my cycle of life and helps me represent that in our photos together. It is ALWAYS the boost that I need.”

A’s floral boudoir portraits

A began the session wearing a long-sleeved black bodysuit with a wide scoop back. These portraits feel very elegant, dramatic, powerful, and classic. One of A’s favorite parts of her body is her eyes, and I love how much her green eyes pop against her black bodysuit and the neutral color palette of my studio couch.

Next, A wore a bright green lacy lingerie set, paired in some portraits with a breezy white blouse. We also incorporated a really beautiful bouquet of locally-grown lisianthus into these portraits. We truly had so much fun playing with the flowers, experimenting with A holding the flowers in a big bundle and then spreading them all around her body while lying on the floor. These portraits have such a colorful, whimsical, and self-confident energy.

A wrapped up the session wearing a simple white t-shirt from my studio layering wardrobe paired with lacy, white underwear. We incorporated flowers into this look, again playing with different artful arrangements in front of my rotating color wall, which is currently terra cotta. These portraits turned out at once modern and timeless, and A’s calm, confident, and creative energy shines through powerfully in each one.
