M’s studio boudoir session full of personality, confidence, and joy

M had been dreaming about doing a boudoir session for years, intentionally choosing to wait until it felt like the right moment. This year, she arrived at a season of life where she felt grounded, joyful, and ready to say an unwavering “yes” to boudoir. As a body-positive photographer, I believe strongly in the power of boudoir as a self-celebratory act, so it is such an honor to know the depth of meaning a photoshoot can hold for a client too. It felt so special to help M create the empowering boudoir session of her dreams.

M’s boudoir inspiration

Something M loves most about herself is her genuine joy and passion for life, and she wanted this to shine through in her portraits. She also wanted her portraits to capture the full mosaic of her personality with moments that felt bold and sexy, gentle and sensual, easygoing and everyday, and playful and fun. Overall, she was excited for this session to be a time capsule– capturing her body in this moment of time and celebrating her positive, lighthearted spirit.

M’s boudoir wardrobe vision and planning

M chose a variety of outfits to capture the breadth of moods and personalities she wanted to capture in her boudoir portraits. She started the session wearing a solid black bralette and bottoms set with fun, cutout detailing that felt very “sporty spice” to her. Next she wore a cherry red bodysuit with lace and a ribbed velvet detail, paired with cream stockings. Wearing this outfit, she felt so full of life, joy, and confidence. M also wore an emerald green bodysuit with sheer, lace paneling to capture her dramatic and sexy side.

M followed this outfit with one of my favorite looks from her session: M wore a wine-colored, corduroy shirt falling off the shoulder with burgundy underwear. For this look, she strolled through my kitchenette and poured herself a glass of wine, giving these portraits a storytelling, candid, fun, and flirty feeling. M wrapped up her photoshoot wearing a black lace lingerie set with black stockings– a classic boudoir look that felt dramatic, sensual, and full of bright, joyful energy.

M’s body language and posture in this portrait feels grounded and strong. It captures her well of confidence in such an understated yet powerful way.

This portrait series of M lying on the bed overflows with light, airy, joyful energy. M’s sense of happiness and laughter is so powerful (and contagious!).

I love the soulful expression in M’s eyes here.

Loungy, dramatic, sensual, calm - so much personality and story shines through this portrait of M.
