Marisa’s creative and bold boudoir session

One of the highest compliments I receive as a photographer is having a past client want to come back and work with me again to document a new chapter of their life. Marisa is one such client, and I’m thrilled to share her portraits today! I met Marisa back in 2020 when I photographed her first boudoir session, which was part of the “In Their Own Skin” series where clients reflected in their own words on their boudoir experiences. I was delighted to work with her again, in a totally different season of life.

Outfit Inspiration

Marisa brought so much color and inspiration into this boudoir session. She wanted her portraits to capture the creativity and confidence she felt in her current season of life as she embraced a number of new beginnings. Marisa is also someone who has worked intentionally in life to cultivate self-love, and she wanted these boudoir portraits to showcase her full, authentic self.

To begin the session, Marisa wore a bright turquoise bra and underwear set, which had this intricate boning detail and a sea-like quality. She has a background in yoga and dance, and she had just received her certification in mermaid performance (amazing!). She wanted her clothing choices to pay homage to this exciting new adventure in her life. I love that she brought high-heels and fun jewelry too, really showcasing her bold and dramatic wardrobe style.

Marisa also had recently gotten engaged, so she wanted to balance the bright and bold mermaid vibes with the soft and romantic tone of her upcoming wedding. She brought along a beautiful robe that felt very bridal. This white robe coupled with her bright magenta hair and turquoise lingerie created an incredible color contrast.

We ended the session with several implied nude and fine art nude portraits. Juxtaposed with Marisa’s colorful lingerie, these portraits hold so much glamour and elegance.

Favorite Portraits

I love how Marisa’s eyes sparkle in this portrait with the soft light streaming in from the window. With her shiny heels propped up and her hand gently twirling her hair, she emanates calm confidence.

This simple close-up captures so much personality.

Marisa has such a self-assured expression here. I love how the warm light and soft texture of the brick help accentuate her bold mermaid vibes.

A question I always ask clients when planning a session is: what is something you love about yourself or your body? Marisa shared that she really loves her booty, and she wanted her session to include some fine art nude portraits to capture this celebrated part of her body.

Marisa, I am inspired by your intention to be and to love yourself completely, as you are. It was such a joy and honor to get to work with you again!
