A big announcement…
Do you ever have news to share that is so big, you don’t even know where to start?!
I have the biggest thing ever to tell you – if we were hanging out in person together, I’d probably be bouncing up and down a bit with excitement – but in all honesty, I hardly even know where to begin! This is a dream that has been a long time in the making actually come true… I can barely even put into words how much it means to me.
So I’m just going to come out and say it, and tell you about it. Even if I can’t explain everything perfectly, I’m just so excited to start sharing this with the world.

I am building my own studio!!!!!!
The backstory
I've been dreaming about building my own studio for years – ever since I went full-time as a photographer back in 2015! I've had this vision of walking across the yard and stepping into a studio in my backyard, a space that I could completely customize with my clients in mind, where every wall and window would be designed perfectly for how I like to photograph.
Building my own studio was an idea I've been abstractly dreaming about for years, but in all honesty it always felt like a bit of a fantasy until a few years ago. My partner and I started house-hunting and decided to see if we could find a way to make my dream come to life. It took two years for us to find a house/yard/garage setup that would be the right fit for the studio, and I've had another year of planning and red tape with the city as I've been starting to bring this vision to life... so the fact that construction is about to start, and that this will be truly, finally happening is honestly a little surreal!
What will it look like?
My home has a large detached garage, and I am going to be converting that entire space into the most incredible photography studio! I can’t even express how excited I am and how special this space is going to be.
I have so many dreams for what the studio will be like: full of neutrals and warm textures, a spacious bathroom and dressing room that will be wheelchair accessible, a beautiful little kitchenette, and, most importantly, a stunning shooting space! The studio will have a lofted ceiling, a mix of white walls and reclaimed brick walls, heated floors, a custom window seat, the most incredible giant windows – frosted for privacy – and warm, cozy loft vibes overall. I'm so excited to design every detail from scratch, and while I've hired pros to do much of the work, there are also a ton of things I'll be building myself, too.

What happens next
Construction is just getting started now, and will wrap up by the end of this calendar year – so if you have a photoshoot currently scheduled with me, it will still be in my current NE Minneapolis studio. Photoshoots at the new studio will begin in January 2023.
