Stephanie's Confident, Joyful Boudoir Portraits

I photographed Stephanie about two years ago and was psyched to hear from her again, as I always am with clients who come back for another boudoir session (click here if you’d like to see portraits from Stephanie’s first session). She came to this new session in a season of really embracing herself and feeling confident in the life she is living. Stephanie’s collection of portraits feel so alive to me - we really channeled her sense of renewed confidence and she looks grounded and proud of who she is.

Something I love about working with clients who I have photographed before is that we can look through portraits from their previous session and talk through which ones resonate with where they are at right now in life. Stephanie brought her box of portraits from her previous session to our studio meeting, and we reflected on how they really document where she was at in life and at the time of her first session. The images that really feel most “her” right now were the ones with big, happy smiles. She loved the idea of playing up that sense of joy in her second session - which I think fit wonderfully with her sense of confidence. She was also drawn to the bright energy of her previous portraits with bold pops of color and wanted to make sure she included color in her wardrobe choices to add that dimension she enjoyed.

When Stephanie reached out to plan this session she asked to have Kelsey from The Hair Badassery style her hair and makeup. Stepanie thought she did an amazing job bringing her vision to life the first time and wanted to work with her again. She asked for a dramatic-without-trying vibe, with hair in bed-head inspired curls and makeup that played up her eyes with an emphasis on her eyelashes and a soft smokey eye.

Stephanie loves lingerie and has a beautiful collection of pieces, so she was really excited to incorporate a variety of looks into this photoshoot. She brought a mix of colors and textures, from deep teal lace to a bright pink and silk set, from an elegant bodysuit to a dramatic black set with a matching lace harness, from delicate bird embroidery to bold red pop of color.

Your confidence and energy was amazing to be around, and I loved catching up with you and documenting this chapter of your life. Thank you for being an amazing person, inside and out!
