Before your session

Your Minneapolis boudoir portrait session

You and I will connect to chat about what you're looking for in a boudoir session and see if we're a good fit for each other! I'd love to hear about why you're interested in a session - some of my clients plan a session to give the photographs as a gift to their significant other, but the majority of the women I work with choose to do a session as an empowering gift to themselves.

We will also talk about the style or feel of the portraits that you're looking for, and we can talk through ideas for what you'd like to wear, discuss any questions that you have, and schedule the date and time for your session.

Alyssa was very communicative about her process, and our conversation in the days before the shoot about what I was wanting to convey in my portraits as well as what I love about myself was really thought-provoking!

Your self-celebration day begins

When you arrive to my studio/office for your session, we'll start off with hair and makeup! I've been working with Kelsey, an amazing hair and makeup artist, who comes right into my studio to meet you. We'll fill her in on your vision for your portraits - whether you're looking for something soft and natural or a little more dramatic, she's amazing at bringing out the natural beauty in every woman.

Get ready to feel amazing

You and I will go through the outfits that you brought along to make final selections about what you'll wear. You'll change into the outfit you feel most comfortable in to start, we'll turn on some happy music, and off we go!

A lot of women feel nervous at the beginning of their shoot, and that's totally okay - You're in good hands, and I'll walk you through every pose.

It's typical for us to spend 1.5-3 hours shooting.  I suggest that you set aside four hours for the entire experience (including an hour for hair/makeup) so that we can relax, take breaks to hydrate or change outfits, and not worry about feeling rushed. It'll be a lovely adventure and you'll leave feeling amazing.

Alyssa really put my mind at ease when it came to posing. I appreciated her attention to the way my hair laid over my shoulders and how my hands were placed. Relaxing my hands is probably the hardest thing for me, so having someone watch that was very helpful.

4:00 - See your Portraits

No waiting necessary - see your portraits the same day as your session

No waiting necessary - see your portraits the same day as your session

We'll wrap up your session by about noon. You'll be flying high, feeling amazing (and you've got fancy hair and makeup to boot!) so go out on a self-date or meet a friend for lunch! While you relax for a few hours, I'll dash back to my office to review, edit, and print your portraits!

I'll go through through all the pictures we've taken and choose the most epic shots from each pose/ outfit, so you'll see between 25 - 30 final images from your session. I'll do complete edits on your images (including color corrections, changing some to black/white, and lightly retouching any blemishes, etc. Feel free to let me know if you have a particular request!)

By 4:00pm the same day as your session, we'll meet back up at my office for your boudoir Reveal. I'll show you all of the final images from your session, you'll choose your favorites, and we'll get your order placed!

I even keep some of my products in stock so you may be able to leave that day with your printed boudoir portraits in hand.

Doing the shoot was super fun, but seeing the pictures for the first time felt amazing. It was great and strange to see myself look so beautiful and natural.
